Mateo Arana

Director of Portfolio Management

Mr. Arana is a Principal and Director of Portfolio Management at Baseline Partners. He has participated in the launch and development of Baseline Partners since its inception. His responsibilities include sourcing and qualifying investment opportunities, executing the investment strategy and process, and portfolio management. Mr. Arana is a member of Baseline’s Investment and Management Committees. He leads Baseline’s loan sourcing, underwriting and due diligence, and asset management.

Prior to joining Baseline, Mr. Arana served on the Portfolio Management team at a private investment firm, where he was responsible for the financing, investing, and managing of over $175 million in short-term, rental and NQM loans. Mr. Arana has also served as an Associate at the portfolio management team of Hudson Advisors in New York City, a subsidiary of Lone Star Funds, where he helped manage a $6.0 billion portfolio of structured credit securities, including, CRE loans, RMBS, ABS, CDOs, CMBS and TRUPs. Previously, he worked as a Financial Economist at Analysis Group, and as Quantitative Analyst at Citigroup in London.

Mateo holds a Masters of Finance from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom as well as B.S. and M.S. degrees in Economics from Northeastern University.
